An arrest for a macho assault allows solving the theft of 60,000 cosmetic products

One of the main rules of the thieves should be to remain unnoticed to avoid attracting the attention of the police and mainly it has to be applied when there is an open investigation in which, presumably, you have been able to participate. This is what happened to a 28-year-old resident of El Vendrell (Tarragona), who, after being arrested for a crime of gender violence, in addition to resisting arrest, was also found to have evidence linking him to a robbery with force at the Delfy Cosmetics company in the same town on December 19, in which the thieves took more than 400 boxes of cosmetic products valued at 367,000 euros.

A few weeks ago, the company itself reported that they had lost some 60,000 units of cosmetic material, which represents 90% of the final product that is usually sold through the website and in pharmacies authorized by the brand. Faced with this damage at the gates of Christmas, Delfy offered a reward of 10,000 euros for information to recover the stolen products.

The Mossos explained that on January 19 they received notice that a man was attacking and threatening his partner with a knife on Avenida Diagonal in the Coma-ruga area, which belongs to El Vendrell, and that when they arrived the agents the suspect tried to escape in a car but was intercepted. Despite resisting, the police managed to arrest him and the search found jewelry, watches, glasses and tools that could have been stolen. Documentation was also found, such as passports and registration certificates, with his photo but that did not correspond to his name and for this reason they charged him with a crime of documentary falsification, in addition to suspecting that he could be related to other crimes.

In her house she had 18 boxes of cosmetic products that the agents related to the robbery suffered by Delfy a month ago. In addition, the Mossos suspect that he did not act alone but together with other thieves who would form a band of repeat offenders specializing in assaults on establishments and industrial warehouses with valuables. That is why more arrests related to this robbery are planned.

These stolen cosmetic products are not sold in shopping malls, physical stores, or flea markets, and for this reason it was suspected that an attempt would be made to distribute them on a small scale, according to police sources. The detainee, with numerous criminal records, was placed at the disposal of the El Vendrell courts and his admission to prison was ordered.

Responding to questions from this medium, Marie Meskheli, CEO of Delfy Cosmetics, indicated that the police arrested a suspect for the robbery and that some 18 boxes of products have been recovered, which represents less than 2% of the total stolen stuff. "We hope that the police continue to work actively" to close this case, they emphasize from the company.

The Mossos have opened another line of action as a result of the arrest since the vehicle with which the detainee intended to flee was in the name of a person whose documentation had previously been stolen and who had nothing to do with the facts. Investigators found that the same person was listed as the owner in the documents of up to five different vehicles that were not his.
