AS.com Approves Mexican Senate Law that prohibits use of animals in cosmetics tests
After months of discussion, the Senate of the Republic approved with 103 votes in favor a reform to the General Health Law to prohibit the use of animals in cosmetic tests, whoever incurs the above by hiring , authorizing, participating or developing these practices will be punished by up to seven years in prison.
The initiative was presented by the coordinator of Morena, Ricardo Monrreal two years ago, during this period legislators from the Chamber of Deputies have made various modifications, but it was not until this Thursday, September 2, 2021, when the Mexican Senate has approved it.
“This is a historic day for these living beings who have no voice, but who must be treated with dignity,” said Ricardo Monreal, coordinator of Morena, author of the initiative.
