Dead by Daylight: Leatherface cosmetics withdraw
Behaviour Interactive made the decision to withdraw a list of unlockable cosmetics from Leatherface in Dead by Daylight for numerous cases of racism who have suffered Afro players in recent years. The decision was announced along with the changes in the January update.
Everything dates back to the LEATHERFACE DLC in 2017.Since that time, players have been able to unlock cosmetics for this murderer. These cosmetics are literally the faces of the first four surviving characters that the game had.In other words, Dwight Fairfield's faces, Meg Thomas, Claudette Morel and Jake Park. These were achieved by killing each of them 25 times.Being a terrifying character who uses the faces of the people who murders, the idea was initially not bad.
The list of these cosmetics is found below:
The big problem of this is that Claudette is an Afro -descendant character and Leatherface is white.Since its launch, players have cataloged this as a ‘BlackFace‘, a racist practice in which white people paint their skin to make fun of black people.
Many have complained for years of this fact. However, others have tolerated him for being a murderer. What the alarms have turned on in Behaviour Interactive after all this time are the allegations of racist harassment that have arisen along with the existence of these cosmetics.

The discussion about Leatherface cosmetics in Dead By Daylight and harassment
Numerous streamers and players of Dead By Daylight have discussed a well -known pattern: a player in the role of murderer chooses Leatherface and puts Claudette's face. Then, focuses on a single survivor, pursues it, hits it more than necessary and begins to write racist insults for the chat.
Many times these decisions are made knowing the identity of the survivor. For example, if it is known that a black streamer ’is in the game, a" leatherface blackface "decides to attack it without mercy.Even after the game they are still insulting them in the transmission chat.
These are things that Milady The Stallion has already denounced, who celebrated a few meces ago the company's commitment to withdraw the cosmetics of Leatherface. She is not the only one: dozens of Afro -descendant streamers have pressed a lot for this to come true.
In the announcement of this novelty, Behaviour Interactive clarified that all the players who had in their possession cosmetics will now receive 6.000 iridescent fragments.
