Euphoria makeup artist Donniella Davy gives us her best makeup tips
Beauty And tell us what your favorite products are Fri Jan 21 2022 12:33 PM Sofia Macedo / @sofmacedo DD: Rules are made to be broken. Break them all and do what you want. DD: All Euphoria makeup looks are everyday looks. The only thing stopping you from wearing these daytime looks is the outdated “rule” that dramatic, intense makeup is only for evenings; Dare to wear the look you want and it makes you happy. If you don't know where to start, start with pastel eye shadows, mascara and natural lips. From there, you can start using bolder shades and colors and even glue on a couple of crystals (just don't forget to use clear lash glue to make them look perfect). ELLE: What do you recommend if we want to wear Euphoria-inspired looks in our daily lives?
ELLE: What's the best way to apply glitters without making a mess?
DD: The glitters in gels are the answer! I like to apply them over a longwear cream eyeshadow using a flat brush (the ones for concealer are perfect). Some of my favorite glitters are ColourPop, Lemonhead and Glossier. Remember a couple of rules: NEVER put gel glitter on top of some powder shadows, the gel will break the color; better apply it directly on the skin or on top of a cream shadow. Finally, give it a few minutes to dry well.
ELLE: How do you prepare the skin before applying intense, pigmented eye shadows?
DD: You have to start with a clean and hydrated face, but preferably do not apply too much product on the eyelid area (this will prevent the shadows from moving). A great tip to intensify the pigment and extend the wear of powder eye shadows is to use M.A.C Cosmetics Pro Longwear Paint Pots as primers. If you are going to use creamy shadows, the primer is not necessary.
ELLE: What are your best secrets to making your makeup last for hours and hours?
DD: I honestly hardly ever use makeup products. long wear, in fact, the only long-wear product I use are creamy eyeshadows. I also don't use long-wear foundation or concealer because I don't like how they get dry and look like “fake skin”, I prefer to seal my regular foundation with powder. Creamy ones are ideal for shadows. as a base and follow with some powder to seal. A definite must-have is waterproof mascara and translucent false lash glue for applying crystals.
ELLE: How do we get the perfect liner?
DD: My favorite trick is to use a bit of tape to make a super sharp, precise, and sharp line. Perfected. This trick also works for deep, liner-like shadows. In fact, that's the trick I used for Kat's Halloween look in season one. If you want to make your shadows defined without using a tape, use a flat, square-shaped brush; if you want round shadows, use a brush with round corners.
