Cosmetics industry in Chile reports recovery in sales and details the best sellers
The Cosmetic Chamber of Chile reported a growth in sales in the last period.
Álvaro Márquez, Executive President of the Chamber, indicated that the total sales of the industry have gone “from less to more between January and June of this year”, evidencing a rebound in this sector hit hard by the pandemic.
The growth of total sales of the Cosmetic Chamber during 2021 is as follows, by month, compared to the same period of the previous year:
The accumulated figure for 2021, closing the first semester, and compared to the same period of the previous year is 34.1%.

As for the categories, the ones with the highest growth during the first half of 2021 were Fragrances (over 67%), Skin Care (54%), Makeup (38%), Hair Products (27%) and Hygiene Products and dressing table (15%).
And as for the categories with the highest participation within the total sales of the Cosmetic Chamber, they are located in descending order: Hygiene and Toiletries with 34%, Hair Products (20%), Skin Care (18%), Fragrances ( 17%) and Makeup (8%).
Álvaro Márquez explained that these numbers are not common in the cosmetics industry, “and the figures are a reflection of what happened last year in this same period, when sales were practically nil and trade was stopped, selling only products such as alcohol. gel and soap”.
This semester, on the other hand, sales were strongly driven by important dates for the sector such as Mother's Day and Father's Day, when the figures rose by over 67% in the case of fragrances.
