2021 time change in the United States: set the clock back one hour for winter
This weekend the United States will turn its clocks back an hour as it has done since Benjamin Franklin had the idea in 1748. This time change has had its ups and downs, in some cases it was forgotten and in others it was implemented more rigorously. . In 1966 the time change became official with the Uniform Hours Act, in which the States could be exempt if they so agreed. Later with the Emergency Daylight Savings Time Energy Conservation Act signed by Richard Nixon the time change was made permanent.
According to the Department of Transportation —the body that monitors the time change— this measure saves energy, increases economic productivity and reduces insecurity. The George W. Bush Energy Policy Act established that the time change in summer should take place on the second Sunday in March and return to its normal time on the first Sunday in November. To date, this is how the time change is made.
Know all the details so you don't get confused with the return of winter time.
When does the schedule change?
This year the time change will take place on November 7 at two in the morning on Sunday, so it is recommended to set the clock back one hour on Saturday before going to sleep. If your watch or device has Internet access, it will most likely update itself; however, it is important that you verify that this is the case.
When does winter time end?
On March 13, 2022. That day you must advance your clock one hour to make way for daylight saving time.
What states do not change their time?
Miami and most of Arizona do not change the time and keep the same time all year round. Other territories such as Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands do not either.
Some States of Mexico also change the schedule
Although most of the Mexican territory changed the schedule on October 31, States that border the United States did not. Baja California, Chihuahua, Tamaulipas and Nuevo León will delay their devices one hour this November 7.
