Cantabria begins the collection of organic waste through the brown container

The Government has launched a pilot program to implement the fifth container that has begun in Bárcena de Pie de Concha in the Besaya basin

The Government of Cantabria, through the Public Company Mare, has launched a pilot program in the Besaya basin for the implementation of the fifth brown container or container, the one destined for biorersidos or organic waste, which represents around 40% ofTotal waste generated in Spain.

The chief of the Executive has made special emphasis on the need to promote actions to protect the conservation of the environment and bequeathed to future generations "a habitable planet".

For its part, Blanco has highlighted the relevance of the implementation of the fifth container for the environment of Cantabria, since, beyond the obligations with Europe that indicate December 2023 as the date on which only 10 percent ofThe waste goes to the landfills, the challenges of the Legislature in 11 municipalities of the Besaya basin and the country of different sizes and typology supposes the fulfillment of the Legislature in 11 municipalities.

The mayor has thanked the choice of Bárcena by Pie de Concha as one of the leading municipalities of the pilot program and has stressed the importance of raising awareness of the neighbors about recycling.
