Have you ever wondered why your bag of chips is full of air? This is the answer
You go to the corner store for a bag of chips or snacks and when you choose the one you like the most you realize that, as usual, it is full of air. Have you ever wondered why?
Due to multiple complaints from its customers, PepsiCo's Lay's brand implemented the Lay's Without Air campaign, with which they seek to address consumer complaints about the apparent excess of air present in the packaging.
As part of the campaign, a video was published explaining the true and mysterious reason why bags of chips and snacks are full of air.
Although the customers in the video say the bags should have less air inside them, PepsiCo showed them what would happen if that demand were met.
The company created a package with the exact amount of air that consumers considered correct. After that, the brand proceeded to show its customers what would happen to those bags, if they fell to the floor or during transfers: once they reach the customer and he opens them, the potatoes are in pieces.
"We plan to create a bold and fun initiative to inform and invite consumers to be part of the conversation about air in packaging, conveying the importance of this for the preservation of Lay's potatoes," said Nicolás López Martí, director of Global Snacks for PepsiCo Central, South America and the Caribbean.
With the campaign, the brand seeks to show people that, although the air can be annoying because it seems deceptive, it is necessary for the chips or snacks to reach the consumer in good condition.
