Ombudsman for Peque denounces alleged Army torture of citizens
The representative of the municipality of Peque, Juan Diego Fernández, assured that members of the National Army would be torturing the inhabitants of that municipality located in the west of the department.
“The Peque municipal ombudsman is preparing to denounce before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights members of the National Army who patrol in the area belonging to the Pedro Justo Berrío Battalion, under the command of Captain Juan Pablo Tabares. This troop of the National Army has systematically carried out acts that violate Human Rights in recent days,” the representative stated.
According to Fernández, there are cases of torture and lynching with objects that are not allowed. It also ensures that there are records of people who have been electrocuted “to get information from them, they have even threatened them with bags over their heads”.
