Dembélé, the game of nonsense

All the keys to the Dembélé case
The Frenchman was asking for around 20 million euros per season plus a similar amount of commission for the agent. The figures are disproportionate when compared to the performance offered since his arrival. There have been five seasons in which injuries have kept him longer in the infirmary than on the field. Ousmane has always aimed very high but the reality is very different. Even Xavi had great expectations for the Frenchman but, if there is no sudden change (with Dembélé anything is possible), he will also be left with the desire to make him the best in the world in his position.
Dembélé's renewal process has been an accumulation of nonsense, from one side and the other. The club had the renewal tied up until it occurred to him to sign and present Ferran Torres before sealing Dembélé's contract. So, upon seeing the numbers of the Spanish international, the Frenchman's agent jumped on the vine to change his economic conditions. If having Torres cost Barça about 60 million euros, having the Frenchman was worth the same, said agent Moussa Sissoko. Barça gave him arguments to defend this thesis. And Sissoko, whose obsession was to recover the money he did not earn when he was transferred from Borussia to Barça, took advantage of it to claim his own.
Barça did well not to raise their initial offer because Dembélé is worth an effort, but not crazy. If the club didn't make an effort with Messi... Why should it do it with Dembélé who doesn't reach the sole of his shoes? There are no reasons because their demands are out of the market and Barça, clumsy in the 'timing' of the renewal, has been good to stand up.
That said, and knowing that Dembélé is no longer so decisive after the recovery of Fati and the signing of Torres, he would do well to demonstrate his strength and set the line for the player, in the same way he did with Ilaix in the summer. Selling him now would be a great gesture for the fans, for the dressing room and for the other European clubs. That would be a demonstration that Barça has returned. That with Barça you can agree or not, but you can't laugh.
