Islantilla increases its attractions with a Fantasy Walk with selfie points with augmented reality | Heconomia.es - Economic and business information of Huelva
Starting today, Islantilla Beach has a new tourist attraction in its recently inaugurated Paseo de la Fantasia, a space for interaction with Augmented Reality included in the actions of the Islantilla Innova project, and which invites tourists and visitors to immortalize their passage through this coastal enclave of the province of Huelva with an original photo in the company of some of the most famous characters in the history of cinema and animation.
The new Islantilla Fantasy Walk, located next to the Paseo Marítimo in this corner of Huelva shared by the municipalities of Lepe and Isla Cristina and a pioneer of its kind in Spain, was inaugurated this morning in the presence of institutional representatives from both towns, as well as as well as tourism entrepreneurs in the area and part of the CEIP 'Las Gaviotas' students, who have been able to verify in situ the operation of this brand new recreational space that applies the latest Virtual Reality technologies to the tourism sector.
In the words of the Mayor of Isla Cristina, Antonia Grao, "this new tourist attraction has a double objective: on the one hand, it serves as a tool to promote the Islantilla destination by diversifying its leisure offer and linking our brand to the latest cutting-edge technologies, and on the other hand, at a more local level, it is offering us a magnificent opportunity to bring the variety and richness of our tourism resources closer to the citizens of our municipalities, especially reaching the new generations and using their own mobile phones". Grao was thus referring to the dissemination campaign of the Islantilla Innova Project that the Commonwealth has been developing among the schools of Lepe and Isla Cristina.
For his part, the Deputy Mayor delegate of the Lepe City Council in the Commonwealth of Islantilla, Jesús Toronjo, highlighted that "this new Fantasy Walk joins other initiatives such as the double zip line that will be launched this summer, or the future 'El Camaleón' Augmented Nature Park, currently underway, all of them aimed at diversifying the complementary offer of this destination to make it attractive 365 days a year".

The Fantasy Walk currently has four first interaction points with Augmented Reality, each of them with a fictional character with which the visitor can be photographed to share the snapshot on social networks. It is expected that the number of characters will be expanded soon to diversify the offer.
In addition to this walk, the Commonwealth has also inaugurated today its Selfie Points Route: a route made up of five emblematic places in Islantilla in which to capture a self-portrait with the most outstanding landscapes of this enclave, and in which it is also possible to interact with the official mascot of destiny, the Islantino chameleon.
The creation of these outdoor Augmented Reality spaces will also allow promotional actions based on the playful nature of this technology to be carried out, with the organization of photography contests on social networks, or similar initiatives.
The Islantilla Innova Project, based on the app of the same name and available for Android and iOS systems, also includes the start-up last summer of the Islantilla Technological Tourist Reception Center, the promotion of the destination through 360º immersive videos, the development of a three-dimensional tourist map or the Augmented Reality route through the future 'El Camaleón' Park.
