THINGS THAT HAPPEN | GONE BY TIME (IV) | Jose Pineda
Continuing with this endless list of everything that time is taking away and what I will haunt you, brunette, these days that we have gone out more to the streets is calling my attention, a phenomenon that I observe with great interest wherever I go. I understand that fashions are relentless, much more so in these times of so much overload of information, they run like wildfire and just like the lyrics of that old woman from Seville, they come as they go. But the truth is that as this fashion lasts a long time, here in no time, we will all end up wearing "sneakers", also called sneakers because they were what they were really used for, to play sports that are so fashionable now; and much earlier, the authentic, incomparable and characteristic “kubalinas”, so called because they were made fashionable (fashion again) in the 60s by the unforgettable F.C. Barcelona of Hungarian origin, Ladislao Kubala.
Wherever you go, no matter the town or the city, look at what kind of shoes the majority of passers-by are wearing, regardless of the type of clothing they are wearing: suits, skirts, jeans, or even if they are going to a religious ceremony like weddings , baptisms or communions. From what you can see, this type of shoe goes with everything, or vice versa.
Models and prices? Come and see that this is another matter. I talk about the subject with a shoemaker friend in Mallorca and she is very into this fashion thing and she tells me that really, this thing about shoes is a real nonsense and a huge joke. He tells me that the usual brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics,... must now be joined by those made by luxury brands such as Prada, Louis Vuitton or Chanel herself, who are also signing up for a bombardment, and whose prices of these cute little shoes range between 2,000 and 4,000 euritos of nothing. What…?
It is clear that more than one manufacturer of classic and traditional shoes such as Yanko, Castellanos or Lottusse, among others, is carried away by this trend and those elegant moccasins, ballerinas, with buckles, boat shoes or toecaps all handmade also join the long list of what time has taken away. And the bad or good of all this nonsense is that any day, just as we see a man in a magnificent suit and slippers on our streets, we can find another in a Bolivarian tracksuit, with shiny moccasins of the ones mentioned above and So yes, it will be to run away.
And it is that time takes everything, it takes away even time itself, which is already taking away. It takes life, it takes death, the poor, the rich, to take it, it takes even politicians, with how difficult that is. Time, it is proven, has nothing to do with anyone. Well that.
Oh! I forgot: I also have some sneakers that are the sea of cute. TO BE CONTINUE.
