Valencia CF will face FC Cartagena in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey

The black and white will play in Cartagonova the cup tie against the team that plays in the Second Division

With the presence in the drums of the four teams that compete in the Spanish Super Cup, the Luis Aragonés Hall of Ciudad del Fútbol hosted the draw corresponding to the round of 32 of the tournament. After completing the second round in which several First Division teams fell, Valencia expected a rival to be able to overcome the tie that will be played in the first week of January 2022.

Luck wanted the ball that Valencia CF got to be that of FC Cartagena, the team that this past Wednesday eliminated Castellón. Thus, the black and white will travel to the Murcian city to face the Cartagena in the Municipal Stadium of Cartagonova, which also has a capacity of more than 15,000 seats. The match will be played on January 5 at 6:00 p.m.

With a very competitive squad with players like Nacho Gil (Valencia CF youth player), Gastón (from Huesca) or Rubén Castro, one of the historic strikers in LaLiga with more than 700 goals behind him and who has played in clubs as emblematic as Real Betis and UD Las Palmas, he stands out for his goalscoring facet, and he has already scored 10 goals in LaLiga Smartbank with the Cartagena side. Valencia, despite being the favourite, will find a more demanding rival.

Crosses and surprises

In this round, the crosses of the Valencian teams that will have to resolve their matches against teams of great entity stand out. And it is that the draw has been capricious and fate has wanted to pair, once again, CD Alcoyano against R. Madrid in the reissue of last year's tie in which the people from Alicante gave the surprise and eliminated the meringues. Elche CF, meanwhile, will face Almería in a comfortable trip but against one of the most fit teams in the Spanish Second Division. Finally, Villarreal CF will travel to Gijón to face Real Sporting de Gijón.
