In 2015, a photo of an article of clothing divided Internet users in two. The colors of a dress did not seem so clear to some Internet users, who claimed to see white and gold instead of blue and black, their original colors. The controversy was settled with another photograph taken from another angle, but the phenomenon went viral worldwide in a matter of a few days. Now, another image has come back to play with our brains, this time, a sneaker: is it pink and white, or gray and green? And most importantly: how is it possible that there are people who see it in one way, and others, radically different? According to Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist at Wellesley College, the brain is the cause of this slip: "The eyes try to compensate for the background lighting with the color of the main object," she explained when the image of the dress became popular. This explanation demolishes the false theory that has accompanied the image of the slippers, which associated seeing one color or another with having an "analytical" or "creative" brain. But if you want to know what color the shoe really is, we clear up your doubts in the video. Press play and don't miss it!
